Mileage may vary. All I can speak to is my experience. I got as much out of the Codex and Wikipedia, and I still wound up needing my web host to upload the necessary WordPress files. Following the book's directions screwed me up completely. After that, I tried reading it every time I got stuck--and usually got stuck worse. Finally I gave up and just played with the Dashboard and read every single message on the theme forum. It was a lot safer. I'll be happy to send you my copy.
