Clash of the What?

Banging my head against the keyboard again. History Channel has started a new series about the Greek myths, Clash of the Gods. So far so good; any Greek mythology programs have to help Highway's chances. But oh, ugh, their knowledge of the myths is soooooo shallow. Not only that, but every stinking one of the figures listed as "gods" (and at least two of them ain't dieties, folks)--Zeus, Hercules, Hades and the Minotaur--are men. Hello? What about the rest of us?
Oh wait, they've just named another "god": Medusa. I don't think so.
Arrrrrrrgh!

Pimping someone else for a change

Just wanted to let the f-list know I'm the designated blogger at Fantasy and Enchantment--at least until tomorrow's Thursday 13.  This week's topic is Adrienne Mayor, the folklorist I want to be when I grow up.  :-)  Adrienne figured out the connection between ancient fossil hunters and mythic visions of the Cyclops and classical depictions of griffins.  She's also done some great work on ancient drugs.  Can't wait 'til my next cache of her books arrives from Amazon!
Cheers and grins,

Heroes & Villains

It's Greek mythology day at the Fantasy & Enchantment Blog.  Trust me, you'll never see Hercules and Orpheus quite the same way ever again...unless you had my warped view of the legends to start with.  Mwahahaha!
