This might not seem like a big deal, since With Nine You Get Vanyr has been in print since February, but actual bookstore sightings have been few and far between.  But the Pentagon Centre Borders persevered and, thanks to Samhain's new relationship with Ingrams, succeeded in ordering five copies.  (Thank you, Preston!)  Better yet, when I wandered into the store Sunday evening, there were only four left to sign.  Someone had bought one.  (Insert major happy dance here.)
Writers are soooo easy to please.  This raises the verified count of stores carrying Vanyr to four: Cover to Cover (you are carrying it, aren't you quietselkie, user asks nervously), the Landmark Waldenbooks, Turn the Page Bookstore Cafe and the Pentagon Centre Borders.  My uncle in Florida is doing his bit, dutifully visiting local stores and requesting it (all on his own too--I never thought to ask) but so far no luck.
It's been a good day for commerce overall.  My Inner Designer Junkie was unexpectedly sated by a visit to TJ Maxx.  Found a Just Cavalli jacket in my size at a deep discount.  I was so entranced by the print, I didn't notice the buttons were missing until I got it into the fitting room.  Can you say "deeper discount"?  *bg*  Better still, I had the perfect buttons waiting for it at home.  My spring/summer wardrobe is saved!
And I'm almost healthy too.  One more visit to the doctor should do it.  Then it's back to con reportage.  Jana Oliver has placed in the honors section of so many awards since RavenCon, I positively need to blackmail her.  Gotta figure out how she did it...besides writing a great book that is.  ;-)

Yuss, we are carrying it. Y'all are selling coast to coast, baby!

LOL We're selling on both coasts with nothing in between. Thanks (with smoochies) {{{{quietselkie}}}}}!
BTW, if you head over to adultfanfiction.net you'll see our first effort at web-vertising. SJ did the banner. Did a little dance when I saw that too. I'm so easy. :-)
Hugs,
Jean Marie

I tried to find your ad, but there was some nonsense about yaoi and green beer and questionable pairings running.

Hope it brings you more readers though!

Our banner is in rotation, so you have to refresh or move from site to site to find it. But it's there, and I am seeing some mild twitching in our Amazon numbers. So I call it a very good thing.
Hugs and smiles,
Jean Marie

Yay! That is thrilling. Heck, I get a charge out of seeing a title on a shelf from someone I know. : )

I hope your next visit will have them cleaned out of stock and waiting for another shipment of W9YGV.

Glad you're feeling better, sweets.

Hey, I'll be happy if they sell. Period. The store's behind the idea. Preston tells me he's planning a con-related display to celebrate the beginning of con season. And yep, he thinks the book would be a very good fit. *bg*
Thanks for the health cheers {{{{{whitemunin}}}}}. I'm much, much better. Not quite 100 percent, according to the doc, but close enough I don't have to worry about it.
So, I decided shopping therapy was in order. Heh heh. Aside from yesterday's TJ Maxx outing and some basic replacement pieces ordered through a catalogue, I realized I hadn't been shopping in almost a year. It was *time*.
Hugs,
Jean Marie

a likely story . . . are you sure you didn't say something to him about having to find a place to send your mother so you could go visit bookstores if they didn't start carrying Vanyr?

Actually, no. And it's such a sterling marketing idea too. Threaten to send Mom to wherever they don't have my book in stock. I could mobilize whole platoons of people that way. Well, platoons of people who know her. The rest would have to experience her for themselves before the shock and awe could take effect.
What can I say about my failing. I've been sick. *whine*
BTW, how's your tooth doing?
Hugs,
Jean Marie

Many congratulations. Thirty-odd years, five collections and one novel later, I've yet to get one of my books in a shop. I'm consumed with jealousy. ;-)

That's so not right! What about THE YEAR'S BEST FANTASY AND HORROR collection? I bought mine in my local Borders. Aren't they sold in UK bookshops? Concerned hugs, Jean Marie

You're right; I should have included YBFH in that whine, although I haven't seen it in the shops over here.
