We Can Has Art Book

It's official.  Barron's has decided to buy the fantasy art book for publication in January 2010.  The working title is "Scan and Trace: Fantasy Templates".  Rafi, the artist, is fabulous.  I wish I could share some of the art used in the proposal, but I'm afraid you'll have to make do with this link. 
Barron's boasts a very strong line of how-to books for fantasy and graphic novel illustrators.  But nothing quite like what Rafi and I are about to do.  Can't wait.

You should see the presentation pages they used at Frankfurt. They're gorgeous. Hope I can get permission to use some of the graphics for icons and other promo.
The Vampire Journal project is still pending. There was some interest in Frankfurt and NY, but as the editor said, there was so much vampire stuff, they may have missed their moment. We'll see. They still plan to bring the proposal to a couple more book shows.
Meanwhile, I've started research for the novel I didn't submit for proposal. Tonight J. (the daughter of Greg's best friend) and K. (one of her roommates spent an hour and a half answering questions about undergrad life at Catholic University. Next Thursday, they're taking me on a campus tour to scout the locations. J., especially, really likes the plot and conflicts. Here's hoping her reactions prove typical.

Wow - this is amazing news! Eventhough I can barely draw a stick figure, I do admire those who can do a lot more (naturally). I look forward to seeing the end product - will it be on sale in the UK too?

Thanks, lilifae! I think it will. Quarto, the publisher who initiated the project insists on partners in several countries before it will green light a project. So I think, at a minimum, all of their books are available in the US, the UK and Australia.
I have the greatest respect for artists too. I studied it for years, but I knew I'd never be better than mediocre. But I can write about it.
