The dh is hiding in the basement.  He's stowed the cream he uses in his coffee in the downstairs refrigerator.  He hopes Duzell the Wonder Cat won't suspect it's there.  He cringes at the prospect of the plaintive feline wail: "Meeeeeeeeeewlk!  Meeeeeeeeeewlk!"
Today Duzie saw the vet, and the vet plopped Duzie on the scale.  The last time we visited the vet, the vet said Duzie was getting too heavy.  The cat's gained a pound and a half since then.
"Didn't you restrict his dry food like I told you?" the vet asked.
"Yeah.  There was one small problem, though."
The vet waited.
"My husband felt so bad about Duzie being on a diet he introduced the cat to cream."
The vet's stared at me as if I'd grown an extra head.
"My husband's very softhearted," I added.
"No more cream."
Since Duzie grew accustomed to mooching a teaspoonful of cream every time the dh made himself a cup of coffee, the cat hustles himself into the upstairs kitchen every time he hears the dh pottering around.  Since the cat's very vocal, he always makes his wants known.  And he knows how to press the dh's guilt buttons--hence the hiding dh.
I'd probably be a lot more sympathetic to Wonder Cat if it hadn't taken us a half hour to insert him into his carrier this morning.  Duzie's faster than us.  He's obviously smarter than us.  Can't afford to have him get bigger than us too.  Can you say Palug's Cat?
At least, Duzie's declawed.  ;-)

In other news, Gia Dawn is the latest blogger at the Fantasy and Enchantment Blog.  Her entry addresses the personal sources of enchantment.
I'll probably stop most of my blog bulletins later this week when everyone's had the chance to read at least one blog from all of Fantasy and Enchantment's contributors.  I'll continue to post links to my efforts, though.  I'm evil that way.  *eg*

Fell down on the job yesterday.  Neglected to note Gia Dawn's post on the endlessly fascinating subject of what's hot and what's not, explored from both readers' and writers' perspectives.  Fortunately, you can still check it out--as well as Carolan Ivey's latest Creature Feature on an imp called the Grugach or Grogan.  At least this time we don't have to clean up after the critter.  The last one...well, you can read it for yourself.  But don't say I didn't warn you!
Cheers and grins,

That pic of the Japanese maple on our deck wasn't taken last fall.  It was taken twenty minutes ago.  If you squint hard enough you can even see the budding azalea budding behind the fence at the far right.
Told Greg it was his fault for getting all emotional about Karl Muck's version of Parsifal last night.  Some things are just wrong.  Like snow in April in northern Virginia.  Or like a left-leaning Valentinian gnostic loving Wagner.  (Have I mentioned his cartoons lately?)  He still didn't get it.  LOL
Not too much else to report.  Been burrowing in what one of my fellow Samhellions calls "the writing cave" all week.  I'm going to finish Highway from Hell by next Saturday if I have to write non-stop.  Well, starting Monday.  Still have to survive Mom's Easter plans first.  ;-)
Also joined the Fantasy and Enchantment blog with a great group of Samhain fantasy writers: Jennie Andrus, Bianca D'Arc, Dayna Hart, Carolan Ivey, Melissa Lopez and most especially Gia Dawn--who will kill me for that when she finds out I wrote that.  Heh heh.  The group blog is just getting started, but we plan lots of great things, including a regular Thursday Thirteen and a newsletter.
And not a minute too soon!  The prospect of filling a regular mailing all by myself was giving me chills.  My life's boring.  That's why I became a writer, after all.
Wishing you lots of chocolate and the best of the season, however you celebrate it.  Cheers!
