Alms for the Techno-Dummy

I've used Eudora as my mail program for ages.  I's wonderful for filtering out spam, viruses, etc.  But every so often--usually around the time they introduce a new version--it randomly dumps YEARS of my inbox.  Tonight it just took me back to 2004.  Getting in touch with Qualcom (the manufacturer) is pointless.  They'll only tell me to upload the new version, which is exactly the same as the old version and never, ever restores the old mail, so why bother?
Can anyone suggest where the dumped mails might be hiding and how I can get them back?  Thanks!

Ooooh.

Wait. It's on the old computer? Can you bring up Eudora on the old computer and send or forward the items to yourself on the new one? That's probably the long and slow way to do it unless you can find the mailbox files and port them over now that you've got things cleaned out so there might be room.

I could, but my "cunning plan" for the 'puter transfer is to simply copy stuff to disc I don't plan to use every day. I haven't even loaded Eudora onto the new 'puter. I'm not sure it could handle Vista.
And before you ask, yes, I'm working on the old computer today. Call it the electronic equivalent of comfort food. So lame, I know. LOL

Argh, Vista. Don't get me started. I've done OK installing everything as Admin, and also the first time I run an app, I also RUN As Admin. Then it seems to be OK. But that first week sucked mighty donkey bollocks.

On the other hand, Vista's been good for keeping all sorts of crap the employees *cough cough* might like to install OFF the machine. They don't get the admin password, so we don't have the same trouble with viruses and a million chat programs.

And on the other other hand, everyone at MicroSloth probably can tell every time we go to the bathroom at the shop.

*shrug*

Love my Mac at home though. :-) But I well remember when I had to shift from Old Little Mac to New Little Mac...that was hard, letting go...

My big thing on the Vista machine is iTunes. I LURVES the way it handles any kind of download. Of course, time spent watching or listening to downloads is time spent not writing. Like I need more excuses. LOL
