Rabies Fun Day

Like the mechanical defecating duck, I don't make this up.  I'm just not that good.  But yes, indeed, our local community hosted a Rabies Fun Day yesterday at our local park.  Somehow "rabies" is a word I'd never package with "fun", much less kiddie rides.
Ho-kay...
Hugs and grins,
Jean Marie

Let me guess -- they gave every kid their very own infected critter as a present. Who dreamed this up? The folks who sell the rabies vaccine?

Sounds like it, doesn't it? :-P
I think it was supposed to be a "Rabies Awareness Day". In this part of the world, the local raccoon and fox populations are subject to periodic hydrophobia epidemics. Which means people need to be aware of the symptoms, make sure their pets are innoculated, yada yada.
But "awareness" isn't sexy, sooo...
Hugs and headshakes,

Buh?

What's involved in Rabies Fun Day? Besides the kiddie rides?

I think they were distributing flyers and possibly discount coupons for pet vaccinations. I didn't investigate, because I had to park in the north forty and my arms were about to drop off from hauling too many veges from our Sunday farmers market. I'll ask when I take Duzie for his regular check-up and innoculation Thursday.
The weird thing was the park was crawling with squad cars. I counted six--and there were only a half dozen booths, including the air slide and the soft drink stands. The Cambodian Festival didn't rate that kind of coverage.
Hugs and headshakes,
Jean Marie
